Monday, June 1
12:31-1:06 a.m. Police issue four parking tickets to vehicles on Main Street.
6:30 a.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute that resulted from a dispute about early morning yard work.
1:01 p.m. Police investigate a report of a counterfeit $20 bill received by a business on Main Street.
1:53 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute between two brothers, one of them intoxicated.
2:38 p.m. Police respond to a report of disorderly juveniles on dirt bikes damaging a neighbor’s property and speak with parent of one of the juveniles.
2:59 p.m. Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident with property damage in the parking lot of the high school.
3:50 p.m. Police charge 37-year-old Brian Chaney, of Cornwall, with disorderly conduct, after he allegedly harassed people at Cornwall Plaza.
4:08 p.m. Police take a report of a GPS unit stolen from a vehicle when its owner was visiting Cornwall.
7:02 p.m. Police respond to a neighbor dispute over a shared driveway.
7:45 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Academy Avenue in which a drive hit a signpost and the car caught on fire. No injuries.
9:14 p.m. Police respond to a boyfriend-girlfriend domestic dispute.
9:56 p.m. Police respond to a report of a bear in backyard of a residence on Horizon Road but do not locate the animal.
Tuesday, June 2
3:55-4:07 p.m. Police issue two tickets to drivers for failure to stop at a stop sign at Shore Drive and Ash.
4:27 p.m. Police investigate reported fraudulent use of an altered credit card.
5:01 p.m. Police impound a vehicle that was parked illegally.
6:21 p.m. Police respond to a report of a woman who said she was harassed while shopping at Key Foods.
6:53 p.m. Police respond to a report of a verbal confrontation between a landlord and his tenant while standing in the roadway.
Wednesday, June 3
7:12 a.m. Police respond to a report of a pitbull type dog running loose in the town hall park. Witness says he saw the dog with a young duckling in its mouth and he was able to get the duck out unharmed. Owner is advised to keep the dog on a leash.
10:49 a.m. Police issue a parking ticket to a vehicle illegally parked in a handicap spot on Main Street.
11:58 a.m. Police observe a handmade cross in the ground behind the Citgo station on Route 9W and excavate the ground to find out if anything is illegally buried at the location. Nothing found.
4:32 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident at Route 94 and Jackson Avenue.
5:46 p.m. Police issue a driver on Route 94 a ticket for a loud muffler.
6:07 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 32.
6:39 p.m. Police respond to a missing person report from Port Jervis, locate subject and bring her to the police station to be picked up by her mother.
9:55 p.m. Police respond to a husband-wife domestic dispute and transport child to the emergency room for an unrelated incident.
Thursday, June 4
7:45 a.m. Police arrest a 17-year-old male from Cornwall on a warrant for petty larceny in New Windsor.
11:14 a.m. Police issue a parking ticket to a vehicle parked in the police chief’s posted no parking spot.
3:49 p.m. Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Henry Lane.
4:09 p.m. Police investigate a report of a gym bag taken from a vehicle between June 1 and June 4 while it was parked on Howard Street. Two glucose monitors, MP3 player, headphones and other personal items were taken. Several items were later recovered behind a residence on Willow Avenue.
7:23 p.m. Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Route 9W.
7:24 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Hill Rad.
8:38 p.m. Police issue two traffic tickets to a driver on Route 32.
9:34 p.m. Police respond to a report of two Honda Civics doing donuts in the parking lot of Cornwall Plaza and they are gone on arrival.
10:08 p.m. Police charge 43-year-old Ann Marie D’Amato with a felony count of DWI due to a prior DWI conviction after she was stopped for allegedly speeding on Route 94.
Friday, June 5
6:18 a.m. Police respond to Cornwall hospital for a disorderly adult and transport him to his residence.
11:56 a.m. Police respond to Cornwall hospital ER for a report of a patient who assaulted a nurse by spitting in his eyes and mouth. No charges pressed.
3:10 p.m. Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Quaker Avenue.
4:11 p.m. Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Clove Road.
4:43 p.m. Police issue a ticket for traveling 59 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W.
5:43 p.m. Police issue a ticket for traveling 47 mph in a 30 mph zone on Mill Street.
8:19 p.m. Police respond to a report of a car that hit a small black bear cub on Angola Road. The bear is located nearby and officer attempts to euthanize it but after being shot the bear crawled into heavy underbrush and confirmation was not possible. DEC is contacted.
Saturday, June 6
12:45 a.m. Police issue two traffic tickets to a driver on Route 9W.
1:04 a.m. Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Route 9W.
1:29 a.m. Police respond to a disturbance at the Cornwall hospital emergency room.
3:15 p.m. Police issue a ticket for failure to stop at the stop sign at Shore Drive and Ash Avenue.
5:53 p.m. Police charge three people with possession of stolen property. (see article)
6:50 p.m. Police respond to a motorcycle accident on Route 9W that occurred when the driver skidded on gravel and received minor injuries.
11:05 p.m. Police respond to a noise complaint from a party on Ashley Way and advise residents to turn the music down.
Sunday, June 7
12:49 a.m. Police assist in locating a car that was being used without the owner’s authorization.
1:35 a.m. Police issue tickets for speeding on Route 94 to the drivers of two vehicles clocked at 71 mph and 69 mph in a 40 mph zone.
4:13 a.m. Police assist village police with a disorderly subject who was yelling and throwing items around his residence, sustaining several cuts to his hands and arms. Covac transports subject to Cornwall hospital.
8:55 a.m. Police respond to a two calls reporting a bear between St. John’s Episcopal Church and Tamara Lane. Bear gone on arrival.
10:35 a.m. Police investigate a report of three vehicles ransacked overnight while parked in a driveway on Garland Street. Nothing was stolen.
6:59 p.m. Police take a report from a subject who said he is receiving threatening emails.

Yes, that is disturbing - I don't understand why they would want to euthanize the bear. Why can't animal control tranq it and move it somewhere else? What does DEC stand for???

maybe the bear was injured. DEC is department of environmental conservation.
