St. Thomas participated in the 21st Annual Orange County Quiz Bowl at Goshen Middle School May 7th. This is a double elimination tournament of trivia questions similar to "trivial pursuit" ranging from current events to geography, history and science and including spelling and math problems. The participants were in grades 6 through 8. Participating schools included Bishop Dunn, Warwick Valley, Minisink Valley, Goshen, Heritage and Monroe-Woodbury.
Each round consisted of 15 questions to the two teams of five students. Each question is worth one point. However, buzzing in early could penalize the team two points if they answered incorrectly and their opponent went on to answer it correctly.
St. Thomas was well represented by sixth graders Emily D'Antonio, Rachel Spear, Caroline & Connor Staudle, 7th graders Mackenzie Davies, Marina DiCocco, Meghan Gallivan, Margaret Hack, Megan Staudle and Meghan Vreeland and by 8th graders, Christian D'Antonio, Matthew Jessup, Colleen McFadden and Ryan Staudle. Mr. Dennis Costello was the trivia teams advisor.
