The Town of Cornwall Police Department is investigating a the unintentional discharge of a handgun that led to a 35 year old Cornwall woman being shot in the upper right thigh. At approximately 9:15 pm a call was placed to 911 from a 46 yr old Cornwall man who advised that he accidentally shot his wife. Town of Cornwall Police responded to the residence in the Mountainville section of Cornwall and found the subject attending to his wife’s gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center via helicopter. The victim sustained a minor injury to her upper right thigh. The male party was demonstrating the use of a tactical light on the weapon when the weapon discharged. The incident is still under investigation.
Arrests
06/02/2014 Albert A Ramos, age 21, of New Windsor, NY was arrested on a bench warrant.
06/04/14 Ronald R. Mapes, age 28, of new Hampton, NY was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Incidents
06/02/14 Police respond to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Harold Ave. parked in front of a vacant house. Arrest made.
06/04/14 Police take a report of a dead deer on a property on Sycamore Drive to forward to DPW for removal.
06/06/14 Police take a report of larceny. A bike was taken from in front of DeCicco’s store.
06/08/14 Police advise a homeowner on Angola Rd to stop burning brush.
