General News: Lorraine Weinberg Memorial Opera at the Library
April 15, 2013
On Sunday, April 21st, Cornwall Public Library will present the 2nd Annual Lorraine Weinberg Memorial Opera. The opera showing takes place in the library’s community room and begins at 1:00 p.m. It is once again sponsored by Lorraine’s family and has become an annual tradition.
The family shared with the library: “Our mom, Lorraine Weinberg, a Cornwall resident for the last few years, passed away in November 2011. Mom was ALWAYS reading and enjoyed theatre and cultural activities. After our dad, Sidney, died in 2006, mom moved from Long Island to the Hudson Valley to be closer to her family. An avid reader and lifetime library patron, mom was thrilled that the Cornwall Library was so close by. She especially enjoyed the opera series which the library sponsors. Our family is honored to sponsor an annual opera showing in her memory.” Michael, Amy, Andrew, Bruce and Gail
The library’s April opera is Puccini’s Tosca and features Hildegard Behrens, Plàcido Domingo, Cornell MacNeil and Italo Tajo. Lorraine’s family will provide a lovely selection of refreshments for all to enjoy. The public is cordially invited; no registration is necessary. Operas are shown on the third Sunday of each month at Cornwall Public Library, with the exception of July and August. For more information, please call the library at 534-8282.
