General News: Friends of the Library Celebration
March 05, 2013
CORNWALL, NY – On Saturday, March 9th, Friends of Cornwall Library will host a special event to celebrate their 30th anniversary. The public is cordially invited to join them for cake and coffee in the library’s community between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m.
“Throughout the past three decades we have been fortunate to consistently have a wonderful, dedicated group of volunteers working tirelessly to provide advocacy and financial support for our stellar public library,” said Jane Harkinson, President of the Friends. “Our ‘gently used’ book store in the library’s lobby does an amazing business thanks to the many, many donations we receive throughout the year. We are privileged to serve such a great library and community.”
The 30th anniversary event will include a display of memorabilia and special items collected by the Friends during their years of service. Of course, the book store will be open and filled with bargain prices on gently used books for every age and interest, CDs and DVDs. All proceeds are used to assist the library in providing high-quality programs and services for over 9,500 cardholders and the community-at-large.
Annual membership in the Friends is just $15.00 for an individual and $25.00 for a family. Membership applications will be available during the event on March 9th. For more information, stop in during the book store’s hours (Monday 7-8 PM, Tuesday 3-4:30 PM, Wednesday 10:30 AM-12:30 PM, Thursday 10:30-11:30 AM & 3:30-4:30 PM, Friday 34:30 PM, Saturday 10:30 AM-12:30 PM, Closed Sunday) or by e-mailing them a [email protected].
