General News: Two Pedestrians Struck by Drivers

In February 28th at 4:15pm a Pedestrian who was walking his dog on Twin Arch Road in the Town of New Windsor was struck by a Motor Vehicle. The Vehicle driven by Arsen Berezhansky after striking the pedestrian then struck a tree.
The 47 year old male pedestrian had to be air lifted to Westchester Medical Center. He suffered 12 broken ribs and 2 broken vertebrae.
New Windsor Detectives and Accident Reconstruction were called to the scene.
New Windsor Police upon interviewing the driver noticed that he appeared to be under the influence. They performed field sobriety tests and took him into custody. Police were able to determine with the help from Drug Recognition Experts from State Police and Town of Montgomery Police that Mr Berezhansky was Driving under the Influence of Drugs.
Based upon the injuries he caused while under the influence of Drugs he was arraigned on the following charges:
Vehicular Assault 2nd degree - Felony
Assault 2nd degree - Felony
Driving under influence of Drugs – Misdemeanor
Another pedestrian was struck by an auto that was traveling westbound on Quassaick Ave. (Rt. 94) by the intersection of Tree Haven Lane by ABC Pizza Restaurant, New Windsor, February 28 at approximately 9:10 pm.
New Windsor Police and Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance responded and the pedestrian was removed to the Emergency Room, Newburgh Campus, of St. Luke's Hospital.
