Letter to Kevin Quigley from Jim Lennon
Hello Kevin:
Great choice for promotion to Police Sergeant.
Sergeant Joe Gebert is a great officer, street wise and very knowledgeable of the law, local territory and our citizens. He is very personable and has always treated people with respect and dignity.
When I attempted to learn the Police Dispatchers job, unsuccessfully, he was always more than willing to try to help an "old dinosaur" out with the new computer systems, etc. and he was always very supportive and never once did he make me feel like a 'relic' from a past era. He was always ready to help if I had a question and is an excellent instructor - although sometimes you just can't teach an old dog new tricks.
I have observed him on the road and about Town many, many times over the past several years and his actions and demeanor and manner of speech, as far as I have seen or overheard, have always reflected well on the Cornwall Police Department, his superiors and on our Town.
You could not have made a better choice. He will be a great supervisor, I am sure.
And no, I am not a relative; he is just a guy who does his job the right way and I have never heard anyone speak bad of him. And yes, I know someone who will be an asset to the Department as a Police Supervisor; I am a retired Police Sergeant with 27-1/2 years of service.
Nice choice you and the Board made!
Jim Lennon
