All five schools will now have a full time security officer who will enforce security procedures, from point of entry from the beginning of the school day until all buses and students leave. The officers are former or retired law enforcement personnel.
The district issued ID badges are to be worn by all staff. All visitors to the building, including parents are to show ID upon entry. All classroom doors wil be in locked mode in case of an emergency situation.
Teachers attended a special meeting this morning to review security procedures and several handheld radios wre put to use to facilitate the new procedures. Parents were informed that when dropping of their children, they are to leave the child with the assigned greeter or security and if dropping off items, it must go to security then it will be delivered to the classroom.
