Before a crowd of nearly two-hundred family, friends, supporters, and neighbors, James Skoufis took the oath of office for the 99th Assembly District this past Sunday; Town of Woodbury Judge David Levinson presided over the swearing-in at Palaia Winery. Though he has already begun meeting with constituents, community groups, and fellow legislators, Skoufis' term officially begins on January 1.
“Elections are a matter of trust – voters choosing who they entrust to best represent them, their interests, and their values. Being chosen to represent the residents of Orange and Rockland Counties is an incredible honor and incredibly humbling. I'll work tirelessly to prove that the voters' trust was well-placed,” shared Skoufis.
He continued, “I intend to hit the ground running on January 1 and work with both sides of the aisle on behalf of my constituents. I don't care if someone has a 'D' or an 'R' next to their name – if a Democrat has a good idea, I'm going to support them; if a Republican has a good idea, I'm going to support them. Politics is about doing the right thing for people, not the right thing for party.”
Until a state email address and office number are provided at the start of the new year, constituents can be in touch with James with questions, concerns or comments at his personal email address: [email protected].
The 99th Assembly District includes the Orange County towns of Blooming Grove, Chester, Cornwall, Goshen, Hamptonburgh, Highlands, New Windsor, Wawayanda, and Woodbury as well as the Rockland County town of Stony Point.
