General News: Well Field and Budget Discussed at Meeting
December 12, 2012

The Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Board of Trustees held a special meeting along with their scheduled work session Monday night to discuss two resolutions regarding the Taylor Road Well Field.
The first resolution granted the mayor the ability to work with Maser Consulting to look into whether or not the water department could increase the capacity at the well.
The next resolution involved an agreement with the United Talmudical Academy of Kiryas Joel to monitor the status of both of their wells as the work with Maser Consulting moves forward.
When reminded that there are other private wells in the area and that the agreement made with Kiryas Joel should be made “across the board” with the other well owners, Mayor Coyne explained that this measure is being taken because Kiryas Joel is another municipality.
The Trustees also discussed the 2013-14 budget. A 1.8% tax levy increase was discussed, with Mayor Coyne pointing out that “keeping it under 2% is difficult.”
Mayor Coyne said that a tentative budget would be made available to the public by December 20, and that a public hearing on the budget would likely be held on January 14. The Trustees plan to pass the budget at the January 21 business meeting, as the state requires the Village to pass a budget by February 1.
