First and foremost, thank you. Thank you for inviting me into your homes as I knocked on tens of thousands of doors during the campaign. And thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity and privilege to represent you in the State Assembly in the coming term. I will work tirelessly to meet and exceed your expectations.
I am anxious to begin the people's work - this is not my seat or anyone else's seat other than yours and the rest of my constituents in the 99th Assembly District. That is something I will never forget which is why I will vote against any pay raises for state lawmakers, refuse taxpayer-funded mileage reimbursements that most legislators take, and advocate for your best interests every single day as your Assemblyman.
You can also count on me to be a bipartisan presence in Albany. People – myself included – are sick and tired of the partisan gridlock in government. As a Councilman, I successfully worked with members of all parties to get things done for my constituents, an approach I will continue as your Assemblyman.
Again, thank you very much for offering me the privilege to represent you. Now, let's get to work.
James Skoufis
Assemblyman-Elect
99th Assembly District
