Dear Editor,
The Board of the Trustees of the Cornwall Public Library would like to thank the many people who came out to vote on November 18th for the referendum to provide the funding for needed repairs and for the expansion for the library. While we are disappointed with the outcome of the vote, we are grateful for those that came out to support the project and mindful of those that voted against it. We feel the amazing turn out of voters confirms that the library is valued as the community’s heart and center. In the next few weeks the board will revisit the project to determine how best to move forward to address the requests of the community and the imminent repairs that the building requires. While no decisions have been made yet, the board will continue to have an eye to the future so we can provide the level of services and opportunities at the library that you, the community, have come to expect. Thank you again for your support.
Sincerely,
Susanne Vondrak
President,
Board of Trustees
Cornwall Public Library
Comments:
I suspect that many of the people who voted against the bond proposal would be willing to vote in favor of money for necessary roof and other repairs. But why spend millions purely for additional space when there exists more meeting space than you could ever need just a short walk from the library, at the former St. Thomas's school?
