Resolution – Elaine Tilford Schneer – WHEREAS, our friend, Elaine Tilford Schneer, passed away on August 20th 2012, and WHEREAS, Elaine served the people of the Town of Cornwall first as the Receiver of Taxes for five years and then as the Town Clerk for 34 years, and WHEREAS, her service carried on a family tradition initiated by her father, Robert L. Tilford, who served for many years as the tax collector of the Town, and WHEREAS, Elaine was well known throughout Orange County as the source of advice to many other local town clerks as well as throughout the State of New York through her involvement in the New York State Town Clerk’s Association, and WHEREAS, Elaine was always available to help and respond to requests made to the Town Clerk’s office, and WHEREAS, it is fitting, proper and appropriate for this Town Board to recognize the years of service to the Town rendered by Elaine Tilford Schneer, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
That on behalf of all the citizens of the Town of Cornwall, the Town Board hereby expresses its great sympathy to Elaine Tilford Schneer’s Family on her untimely passing and at the same time expresses its thanks and appreciation for Elaine Tilford Schneer’s many years of distinguished service to the Town and to its residents as Town Clerk, and
That the Town Board of the Town of Cornwall does hereby declare the 25th day of October, 2012 to be Town Clerk Elaine Tilford Schneer Day, and
That the Town Board directs that a certified copy of this resolution be duly published in the official newspaper of the Town, posted on the Town Clerk’s bulletin board and presented to Elaine Tilford Schneer’s family.
A motion to approve was made by Councilwoman GREENE, seconded by Councilman MAZZOCCA.
ROLL CALL VOTE: Unanimous Aye.
