Letter to the Editor:
For 26 years I was a resident of New Windsor and have spent the last 6 years as a resident of Cornwall. You can understand how disappointed I was when I recently learned that Colin Schmitt, who is running for State Assembly to represent our district, moved to New Windsor this year. Prior to this he lived in Montgomery, which is a different district on the other side of the County. He moved into our Town in order to run to "represent" us? How can someone represent us after living here for less than a year?
I take exception to this blatant carpetbagging because I believe we need representation from someone who has lived in the area and knows the area. I was happy to learn that Goshen Mayor Kyle Roddey, the other candidate in the primary, grew up in Goshen. Mayor Roddey knows the area and knows its people. He even lived in New Windsor with family at one point.
Roddey not only knows the needs of our residents, but he has the experience. Roddey is not only Mayor of Goshen, but he runs a small business.
Roddey will have my vote in the September 13thRepublican Primary.
