Dear Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson Community,
Four years ago, when my brother, Ian, held a blood drive and cancer awareness day as part of his Eagle project to become an Eagle Scout, I would never have anticipated that we would team together to host 10 blood drives and collect almost 1000 pints of blood for cancer patients when they need it most. I will be attending college in the fall and would like to take the opportunity to send an enormous thank you to the Cornwall Community who have supported, encouraged and helped me and my family in so many ways. Ian and I would not have been able to hold this many blood drives and two Cancer Awareness days without the amazing support we received. So many people stepped up to help. We were truly surprised and humbled each and every time we held a blood drive by how many pints we would collect. Thank you for allowing us to raise cancer awareness and making sure cancer patients have donated blood when needed. A huge thank you goes out to my Venture Crew #353 and advisors Mr. Jim Niblo and Gilles Reimer, St. Thomas of Canterbury Youth Group, Mr. & Mrs. Chuck Trella, Father Heter, members of the Salisbury Mills Fire Company, Mr. Ken Cashman, Principal Dr. Frank Sheboy for always donating with his green socks on, my favorite teacher Mr. Don Blaine and the girls of Jr. Catholic Daughters Court Rita and our advisor Mrs. Karin Caufaglione.
I would also like to thank my brother, Ian, our mom and especially our dad for being an awesome inspiration of living life with incurable cancer. Thanks also to all my friends for their love and support.
Once again, Ian and I are asking everyone to “Part with a Pint”. Our next blood drive is Thursday, August 9thh from 1pm to 7pm at the Salisbury Mills Firehouse on Rt. 94. This will be my last blood drive, as I leave for college in a few weeks. Please celebrate with me and my family and enjoy a piece of cake with us.
Please help me to make this last drive a success. We would like to collect 100 pints. One pint saves three lives, so three hundred people will have another chance at life. It's important, it's vital and it's so simple to donate blood. To register to give blood, please email me at [email protected] and specify the time you would like to give blood in 15 minute time slots. Once again, thank you all for your support. It has been truly appreciated.
Most sincerely,
Isabelle Kelly MacDonald
