General News: David Carnright to fill the trustee vacancy
July 20, 2012
Carnright, a lifelong resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson and 9 year member of the school board has been appointed to the Board of Trustees at Monday night's business meeting. The position has been vacant since April 30th when Andrew Argenio resigned. There were 10 people considered for the position in which Carnright was chosen to fill until next spring. Jeff Small returned to the Planning Board and Vishwa Chaudry was appointed to fill the seat vacated by James Patch.
"If things didn't change I'd have to run to serve the public" Carnright said in an interview. "People giving their time to be public servants shouldn't be taking shots, it's not fair" he said. Carnright has been involved in the community for many years serving as the Director of Board for the Cornwall Youth Football League and a member of the Cornwall Independence Day Committee. When asked if he will stay on the school board while serving as trustee and if he will run for trustee at the next election Carnright stated " if the school board conflicts I will stay to the end of June on the board, I want to see how this goes before deciding to run for the next term." Carnright said "my focus will be on harmony in the village."
