The town of Cornwall may be getting a gas station if the owner of a tract of land on Route 32 gets approval.
Representatives of Orlando Quick Stop Gas Depot appeared before the town of Cornwall planning board on Monday to present preliminary plans for a gas station on the state road, just north of Holloran Road. Developers have already demolished a house that stood on the 8.8 acre property and leveled the area.
Cornwall building inspector Gary Vinson said that developers plan to build a gas station similar to the Cumberland Farms store on Route 94 in New Windsor. He added that the property owners will need site plan approval and zoning variances before getting the green light.
The town of Cornwall lost its last gas station several years ago when the Citgo Station on Route 9W near Willow Avenue shut down. Two businesses in the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson still sell gas.
