The Cornwall Town Board approved the contract between the town and Cornwall Volunteer Ambulance Company this week.
The Town Board has been trying to hammer out a contract with the volunteer ambulance service for around eight years, according to Town Supervisor Kevin Quigley. Normally the town and COVAC would renegotiate the contract every year.
The 4-1 vote at the meeting Monday was to send the contract to COVAC to be signed. Quigley said that he was happy to have the contract out of the way.
The town and COVAC still have to hammer out the details for COVAC’s contracting for billing and Advance Life Service. Quigley said that this was a step in the right direction. Councilwoman Mary Beth Greene Krafft voted against the contract, saying she would rather have the billing and ALS services worked out first.
