To the Editor:
After reading and reflecting on the New York State Comptroller’s report and watching the reaction of Trustees Kane Edsall and Mayor Coyne, I have come to an understanding. The DPW building is not the problem, it is the symptom; a symptom of bad government. We have a government that stifles the residents, will not answer questions when asked about serious financial misdeeds, and will not investigate when informed about these problems.
We need a government ‘of the people and for the people’. Our current majority leaders make excuses while not acting in the public interest. We need to learn from our mistakes, not criticize state agencies that provide a public service. Mayor Coyne and Trustees Kane and Edsall have called the D.E.C. inaccurate, the Comptroller inflammatory, reckless and misleading. Trustee Gosda and I are described as obstructionist.
We need a government that deals with its problems with civility, dignity and respect. We need fundamental change to make Cornwall-on-Hudson the place I know, love, grew up in and chose to raise my children in.
On Election Day, March 20th, vote for two people who show how much they care about the village, regardless of the criticism they are forced to endure.
Vote for Barbara Gosda and Jan Smith. They are truly watching out for your best interests.
Andrew Argenio
Trustee
Cornwall-on-Hudson
