To the Editor:
I urge all COH voters to come out and vote on Tuesday and specifically encourage them to consider voting for Barbara Gosda and Jan Smith. Barbara has been extremely dedicated during her past few years as a Trustee in seeing that the design and construction of the DPW building be thoroughly evaluated and then fixed in accordance with sound engineering standards and State environmental regulations. Despite repeated attempts by “fellow” Trustees to steamroll over suspected deficiencies and concerns of many COH residents, DPW employees and the prior Village Building Inspector, she prevailed until the Tectonic Engineering report confirmed and identified the building’s structural problems so that they can now be corrected to prevailing, legitimate standards. Some have complained of Barbara’s persistence and “outside the box” tactics, but based on the ongoing obstruction of certain trustees and valid results, these tactics, though unpleasant, proved to be both courageous and correct.
We should also applaud Barbara on her concern for Village finances, a concern also validated, this time by the State auditor’s report. Here as well, Barbara has been persistent, and we now find, correct. I believe her concern is not to re-hash prior actions but to be sure we learn from them and move forward with competence, openness and civility to correct whatever problems the auditor’s report identified and run the Village as efficiently as possible for the Village taxpayers and employees. In achieving this, I can think of no better new Trustee than Jan Smith. She has excellent accounting training and experience, which has been corroborated by other West Point employees who worked closely with her. I can think of no better person to help us extricate the Village from the financial challenges it and we taxpayers now face.

Comments:
Does anyone else in Cornwall realize that EVERY letter that supports Gosda/Smith has the same exact title and states almost the same exact words? Coincidence? I think not. It is sad that a certain two people running for trustee have to beg thier friends to write letters in thier favor AND give them a script for them to write. Are we now buying votes? Are we now promising favors in return for a particular outcome? Sounds like it.

Here's an idea: Instead of grousing about Gosda and Smith's supporters exercising their 1st amendment rights, why not write a clear and concise letter of your own outlining the reasons why you think that these two people are not good candidates for the board.

Mr Warren, that is not just an idea, it is a great idea. I'm sorry to inform you though that I have come up with that idea long before you. My letters and comments just happen to get "lost" somewhere . One problem though, every time I do so I have to hear from higher
