To the Editor:
Lately, there has been a lot of venom directed towards Trustees Gosda and Argenio. So in direct contrast to that venom, I want to say thank you to Trustees Gosda and Argenio! I’m grateful that they are asking the tough questions about the DPW building and about how our taxes dollars are being spent. If it wasn’t for them we would probably already have another $500,000 in village debt. I don’t understand why some in the village are so angry at trustees wanting to get all the information before committing to spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on an already bad situation.
As a village, we are going to have disagreements, especially on things like the DPW building. I’m opposed to putting any more taxpayer money in the DPW building. It’s not right or wrong but it’s how I feel and I have a right to be heard just as much as someone who is in favor of the repairs. So then it all comes down to who you trust on the board. The word trust is right in the word trustee and we entrust the elected board to look out for the good of the whole village not just certain sections of the village. Well, I trust trustees Gosda and Argenio when it comes to doing what’s right for the village. And I don’t trust Mayor Coyne, Trustee Edsall or Trustee Kane. In my opinion the majority on the village board has only one agenda: to open the DPW building no matter what the cost. Therefore, they are diverting taxpayer money budgeted for vital services to pay for the repairs. They did it without real debate or input from the public. I ask you does that sound like trustees looking out for the good of the whole village? Are you comfortable with them taking $100,000 from the contingency fund? How is that money going to be replaced? Higher taxes?
If you don’t like that our tax dollars have been diverted from village services to pay for the DPW building repairs then please let’s re-elect Trustee Gosda and elect Jan Smith who knows more about finances that Coyne, Edsall and Kane combined. If the current majority stays in power all we are going to get is: higher taxes, more debt and fewer services.

Comments:
Tom - Thank you for your letter. Every resident that is willing to speak out for the interest of the public is greatly needed.
Would you be willing to speak to the public regarding the status of our "ethics board"??
An ethics board would be a recourse for the public over these issues, but do we really have one?
