General News: Library Receives Arts Grants
November 04, 2011
From the Cornwall Public Library-
The Cornwall Public Library is the recipient of two grants, awarded in support of their upcoming concert series: “Music of the Renaissance & Baroque Periods”: $1,500 from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program administered by Arts in Orange; $3,000 through Orange County Tourism and the County of Orange.
Rosaleen Leahy, the library’s program coordinator who developed the concert series and sought the grants, said, “We are very pleased to have the support of these organizations that enables us to present a wonderful concert series featuring a diverse selection of Renaissance and Baroque period music. The unique aspect of these concerts is that all of the music will be played on authentic or reproduction period instruments. Providing cultural programs is an important facet of the library’s programming.”
Two concerts will take place this year:
• The Four Nations Ensemble Plays Music of the Baroque Period
Sunday, November 20 at 3:00 p.m. in the Storm King School Theater, 314 Mountain Road, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY
• A Program of Renaissance Lute Music performed by Eric Roth
Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room
A third concert is planned for early 2012, with the artist(s) to be announced.
All concerts are open to the public and there is no cost to attend. For more information about Cornwall Public Library’s Music of the Renaissance & Baroque Periods concert series, contact Rosaleen Leahy at the library: 534-8282 or [email protected].
