General News: Architect Adds Design Changes to DPW Repair

The bid specifications for the village DPW building are almost ready to go out, according to architect David Weibolt.
Weibolt, and engineer Scott Davis met again with the Village Board of Trustees at the Monday work session to talk about the designs and some changes that have been made since they were first rolled out last month.
The big change to the bid design would be the moving the steel columns that will be used to reinforce the structure to the outside of the building. Weibolt explained that this would save time and money because any work done would now not have to deal with cutting through the cement floor, and not have the constraints of working indoors. Weibolt said the changes would keep the cost of improvements between $180,000 and $220,000, but predicted it would keep it at the lower end of the estimate.
Weibolt said they had met with a representative from the New York Department of State and that they were in the clear with the planned bid documents.
Village Trustee Barbara Gosda said that she was concerned the flooding from the recent storms might have caused structural damage to the building. Weibolt said he had not been to the site since the flood, but had seen pictures of building and said that unless there was fast flowing water and heavy debris hitting the building it was likely fine. Regardless, Wiebolt said he would do another inspection of the site before the bid documents went out.

Also please remember - That $180,00-$220,000 price was just for making the first floor habitable - And does NOT include the design cost. The presentation Weibolt gave in August stated $180-220K plus an additional ~$20k for design work for the FIRST floor - It will cost an additional $100k to $150k to make the entire building habitable - And that was before the flooding
