To the Editor:
Folks in Cornwall should be aware the Town Board is getting rid of two fine police officers. It seems that even though the police were working without a contract for years, the Supervisor and Board didn't anticipate the police union would expect a raise in pay for their officers. So to get the funds for the settled raises, the Town Board decided to fire two officers and demote one. This also seems to be a threat against future raise requests.
I hope the two officers can find a job. Maybe one like the one held by part-time Supervisor Quigley, who is paid $62,173 per year with health insurance costing taxpayers $15,1392. A part-time job like this might hold them over until they find a police job probably paying less.
By the way, the part time Town Board members have health insurance or a buy-out plan plus their $10,617. yearly salary. And council person Green Kraft gets $2,500 to carry the title of Deputy Supervisor.
I'm writing this letter to inform the Taxpayers in Cornwall that something stinks in town hall and maybe it should be cleaned out.

It's a disgrace that people can't and won't understand what these Police Officers go through every day. They deserve every penny they get plus more!
