A fire in an unoccupied apartment over Tom’s Tavern caused minor damage to the building Wednesday.
Storm King Engine Company No. 2 responded to the fire at 2:34 pm according to Captain Robby Vought. When fire fighters got into the apartment Vought said there was heavy smoke, but the fire was contained to the bathroom where it originated. The fire was completely out by 2:45 pm.
Cornwall and Vails Gate Fire Departments were also on scene and New Windsor Fire Department was on stand-by at the Storm King Engine Company’s fire house.
Vought said that there were no injuries, and that the apartment was undergoing renovations at the time but the people doing the work were not in the building at the time. Aside from damage to the bathroom, Vought said there was only minor smoke and water damage to the building.
Vought wasn’t at liberty to say what the caused the fire, but said that Orange County Fire Investigators had looked at the scene and said it didn’t look suspicious.
