To the Editor:
I would like to thank the string ensemble for an evening of beautiful music at the bandstand Tuesday evening. "Bravo" to the gentleman who plays the viola who composed the VALSE. It was lovely!
Understanding that the gazebo is a public place where families can gather, I have a few ideas. When there is a concert why not place chairs closer to the gazebo and zig-zag the lawn chairs? With this arrangement there would not be a 'race track' around the bandstand. Perhaps another night of the week, a family night could be arranged each week for friends to gather to chat and children to run, chase, squeal and play around and around and around the bandstand.
Also there is a community playground that is open Tuesday evenings where people are also free to gather, talk and children can play without disrupting either musicians or an attentive audience. With respect to all, there is room for everyone 'to do their thing' appropriately and thoughtfully. How rewarding it could be for a family to sit and while parents listen children could read, color, play cards or other QUIET, planned games. After all the musicians are hired to be centernstage [not the youngsters]!
Respectfully,
Elsa Cameron

Comments:
I attended the village work session this week. Mr Argenio proposed that the Village offer camp counselors as a baby sitting service to the concert goers. Please listen to Ms Cameron's suggestion which is a win -win for all without Village taking on any liability for children. Respectfully Vishwa

For a little clarification , I proposed having a ?Ban Stand Camp? utilizing our county certified counselors. This solution would cost $40 per concert, I have since received offers of donations to solve the problem. I have not received and answer about insurance that the mayor promised although he has been emailed about this. Anyone who is interested can watch the video themselves at ArgenioAndrew on YouYube( I think its # 8 of the worksession) and the direct link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEALtn8ZxvI

Here's an idea, and it won't cost $40 per concert: a $1.98 sign that reads, "Absolutely No Running by Children During Concerts. And that Means Yours."
