General News: Jazz, Gospel & Doo-Wop Concerts in Newburgh
June 30, 2011
The Newburgh Jazz Series is back at the Newburgh Waterfront for the fifth year, offering a wide-range of music every Wednesday and Thursday in July and Augusut. The free concert series was created by Aquanetta Wright, who also is known as the Ferry Godmother from the days when she entertained and welcomed passengers on the Beacon-Newburgh ferry.
This year, the Ferry Godmother is adding another night of free music on Tuesdays. In July, she’ll present Gospel Music and then in August, four weeks of Doo-Wop acts will take the stage at the waterfront in Unico Park.
