Letters to the Editor: Thanks for Joining Dialogue

June 14, 2011

To the Editor:

I want to thank everyone who came to our Dialogue with Residents on Saturday in Village Hall. It was open government at its best! We had a nice turnout with a diverse agenda and engaging conversation. Not only did Trustee Argenio and I have the opportunity to hear from our constituents but the residents exchanged thoughts with each other. They set the agenda and we all shared information and ideas for over two hours about our village.

For those who were unable to attend, some of the topics were the riverfront passes for seniors and military personnel in the Town, the Rt. 218 Bike/Hike and how that can advance tourism in our village, a possible fix for the Duncan Ave/Hudson Street intersection, grants and access to the village property north of Donahue Park. We also talked about the public comment periods during board meetings and the time constraints, the situation with our DPW building on Shore Road and the current audit and financial activity. Our village legal contract and the ethics board was also brought up.

I would also like to thank Bob Smith for the coffee and Lynn Gold for the cookies. We were happy to be able to offer refreshments.

Going forward, Andrew and I expect to offer another Dialogue with Residents and we will get back to you with a date. In the meantime, please remember that our regular board meetings are the third Monday of the month at 7pm. You are always welcome and your input is important. Thank you.

Barbara Gosda
Village Trustee

Comments:

Now this is what government is all about where the taxpayers actually voice opinions. Village Government at its best! Hopefully I can make the next one

Thanks, Barbara and Andrew, for this initiative to have a dialogue on issues both big and small that affect our village. I hope it can become a periodic feature. It's a great idea.
