Each year I search for new superlatives to describe RiverFest! Incredible, fantastic, spectacular all seem to fall short. Thanks to the support of the Greater Cornwall Community, we all had a another fantastic day on Saturday. We saw nothing but smiling faces in the crowd that was even larger than in 2010. Every time I looked, there was another full bus unloading at the landing. We’re gratified by the support.
There are many individuals and organizations to thank. First, thanks to Mayor Brendan Coyne and the Village Board for their support. Village Clerk Jeanne Mahoney and her staff, Dave Halvorsen and the DPW, and the Village PD are critical to our success, and we can’t thank them enough. Superintendent Tim Rehm and the Cornwall Central School District, Scoutmaster Ron Jurain and the Scouts and Leaders of Boy Scout Troop 118, Venture Crew 353, the Cornwall Girl Scouts, COVAC and Storm King Engine Company all played important roles. Without the support and participation of all these organizations and individuals, RiverFest wouldn’t be possible. We would also like to thank all of our contributors and sponsors for providing the financial support necessary to pay for RiverFest. A complete list can be found on our website: www.river-fest.com.
Thank you to everyone for the kind comments and compliments. RiverFest is a team effort. Committee members Kate Benson, Kathy Ferraro, Gloria Gerard, Brian Hunt, Peter Miller, Joann Munkelt, Tom O'Shea, Howard Protter, Barbara Perry, Bob Petrilli,
Jeff Schaack, Karen Schaack, Gail Sherman and Lisa Smith started working on RiverFest 14 shortly after RiverFest 13. This small group of people that gives so generously of their time and especially their talent deserve all the credit. The RiverFest Committee and the Cornwall Community are what make days like this past Saturday so remarkable.
Please mark your calendars for the first Saturday in June, and join us next year for RiverFest 2012.
