General News: Town Changes Bulk Pick-Up System
April 19, 2011
The system of bulk pick-up of unwanted items has changed for town of Cornwall residents.
Effective immediately, any residents who have large items they want to dispose of should call the town highway department at 534-2171 to schedule a pick-up. The new system replaces the semi-annual town-wide pick-up of bulk items.
The town board approved the change after hearing from town highway superintendent Robert Conley who said the new system will save the town money by reducing overtime while eliminating the large piles of trash that attract pickers.
The town will pick up as many as eight tires per household and refrigeration, but there are limits on some items. The town will not pick up construction and demolition materials, televisions, computers, propane tanks, hazardous or toxic materials or tree trunks and stumps.
