General News: Fight Leads to Drug Charges Against Man

A fight over a thrown soda can on Main Street ended with a Cornwall resident facing multiple drug possession charges Monday.
At 4:55 pm on Monday, town of Cornwall Police Officer Nicholas Casullo witnessed a passenger of a car driving on Main Street throw a soda can at a pedestrian. Shortly after, the passenger got out of the car and began fighting with the pedestrian.
Casullo broke up the fight and charged both parties with disorderly conduct, a minor violation. However, the pedestrian, Joseph Keegan, 20, of Cornwall; was found in possession of several illegal drugs including ecstasy, PCP, oxycodone and marijuana, according to Cornwall Police Chief Todd Hazard..
Keegan was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, criminal sale of a controlled substance in the second degree, criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana.
The drug charges are all felony offenses, with the exception of the charge of unlawful possession of marijuana, which is violation.
Keegan was arraigned before Cornwall town justice Frances Navaraa and remanded to Orange County Jail without bail.
