General News: Lawsuit Against Village Dismissed
April 12, 2011
By Charlie B. Scirbona
A Federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought against the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson by local businessman Anthony Missere.
The news was announced during the village board of trustees Monday work session. There was little discussion of the matter, with only Mayor Brendan Coyne saying that it was a good thing.
Missere sued the village in September 2009 for $1 million in damages, claiming denial of due process in his attempt to expand his restaurant, The River Bank. Missere charged that the village was selectively enforcing zoning laws and specifically named former mayor Joseph Gross as well as neighboring businessman Ray Yannone.
