To the Editor:
We are being bombarded with letters from Mayor Gross supporters in “The Forum” regarding construction of our DPW facility on Shore Road. There must be an election on March 15 that they are concerned about!
The Gross camp has a lawyer who works hard to prop up the "Emperor," by crafting a bogus case to support allegations against Bob Gilmore, Bill Lee, Mark Edsall and his brother-in-law (who is a great builder), those great people that served on the Local Development Committee, the Village Board and the cleaning lady. This mouthpiece -- an expert on all things, has a law practice without a name, a firm, address or qualifications -- is advising our leader! I could say they both have fools for clients. His actions and those in the Gross camp appear sleazy to me.
I only know that this building was conceived and built by honorable people I have known and respected for decades. Bob Gilmore wrote an affidavit about his role in designing and constructing this facility and submitted it to our Mayor. It was not even acknowledged during a public meeting. Bob is one of the hardest working and honest persons I have ever known, His efforts on our behalf are being demeaned by those who seek political gain to re-elect an ineffective Mayor. Also ignored was the soils analysis engineering report of last October that indicated the building was well supported with little or no settlement over five plus years.
The former (illegally hired) code officer, Bruce Yancewicz, never talked to Bob Gilmore, found all Bob’s records in his office and took them home for "study." He then announced he couldn't find any drawings, signed specs, pictures of footings, footing plans, etc. Bob’s affidavit states they were all there in his removed office files and I believe him.
If you can find Bob’s affidavit, you will find his statements are contrary to all the allegations made by Gross, Chase, Gosda, Bailey and others. I know who I believe, after working closely with him for 28 years and I hope you will also. Perhaps after March 15th, we will have opportunity to set the record straight, stop chasing our tails and get to work again.
Ed Moulton
Cornwall-on Hudson
