To the Editor:
In this challenging economy, it appears that Mayor Gross believes our Village cannot afford to have a full-time police force, yet he believes Village taxpayers can afford one of the more costly situations a person or entity can ever face: litigation.
I am shocked that our Mayor, who presented himself to us as a man of the people -- a lifelong Village resident who claims to love the Village -- cannot find it within himself to simply stop fighting and lead.
In difficult economic times, a good leader would listen to the people and analyze what their priorities are to determine which expenses are truly needed to promote the best interests of our Village. When money is tight, you have to pick your battles carefully; not come out of the corner fighting with everything and everybody who happens to disagree with you. The costs of litigation can add up quickly and Village taxpayers are going to be the big losers if we re-elect a Mayor who seemingly cannot work through a problem.
Aside from this litigation, Mayor Gross has brought us a new era of angry and quarrelsome Village meetings; intervention by the New York Secretary of State because our building inspection service was shut down; and let us not forget: “Bouldergate”. On March 15, please vote for the candidates who understand public service. Please vote for Brendan Coyne, Mark Edsall and Douglas Vatter.
