To the Editor:
When I first started actively posting this past winter I was undecided as to which members of the current Village government I supported. After picking through the news, the quotes from our current representatives, and the Village meetings I came to the conclusion that many things did not add up – and the statements that did not add up were on the side of the three Trustees. I made my choice to support Mayor Gross because the contradictions seem apparent to me; perhaps other residents would notice that also.
Mr. Edsall – The one person on the board who should have knowledge of engineering design and construction. It would be easy to hide behind the notion that the issues at the DPW building were fabricated if the state had not stepped in and judged the building to be unsafe. The state does not typically take such drastic action unless there are drastic issues with a structure. You seem to be comfortable speaking out on the forum now that it is in the last hours before the election.
Mr. Vatter – You state that the “yearly” cost of Tarshis is $90k, making a $20k yearly difference from 2009 – The 6 month cost of the law firm was $90k … everyone please look at his statements and notice the way these men spin reported news.
Ms. Merritt – If some teenagers or kids were swiping signs I do not think they would have gotten the reaction that an adult did from Mr. Argenio. Many times kids vandalize things out of play; it is up to the adults to teach them better. An adult being caught with not one – but seven signs is not a prank, it is a form of intimidation. I believe that Mr. Argenio is asking Mr. Coyne for a personal response, not a statement to the local news. Mr. Coyne has been supporting “nice” and agreeable government. I think Mr. Argenio would like to feel the support of at least having Mr. Coyne respond to him when contacted.
Mr. Kelly – You seem to be confusing approval of the law firm by the board, and appointment of the law firm. Mayor Gross has never argued that the law firm needed to be approved by the board, he has argued that it is a Mayoral appointment, and then the board gets to choose to approve or not. If the board did not approve of his choice, Mayor Gross should have brought another candidate to the table, and the process would have continued as such.
I would like to say once again that I thank Joe Gross for all the efforts he is making, and for standing up even if he takes a personal hit in public opinion. As an engineer I am stating that for the state to step in and claim that there are issues with the building there is no way it is fabricated. I wish that we could investigate this issue, and that the ethics charges were not being blocked and railroaded.
