Letters to the Editor: We Can Move Ahead With Gross, Smith & Argenio

March 10, 2011

To the Editor:

The village is at a pivotal point with this election.

We all know that the majority fired a law firm that did not have a connection to the DPW dilemma and then disregarded the hiring of one of the preeminent municipal law firms in the country in order to hire, on their own, a law firm that has a connection to another law firm that has a conflict with the DPW building.

I really do not care if the act was legal or not. What I care most of all is that the trustee majority is not looking out for the taxpayers of this village. It's quite disturbing that the Trustees would tie the hands of the Mayor in that which most in the village have confidence in -- the ability to fix the DPW problem, without conflicts, and with proper stewardship.

I know in my heart that if Joe Gross, Jan Smith and Andrew Argenio become members of this board we can again move ahead and make this village strong again with ethics and proper management. Then, of course, if the taxpayers prefer a management style that lends itself toward conflicts of interest and hidden agendas, then you also have your voice, but remember the majority never gave a reason why they fired and hired the law firms and I’m sure they never will.
