Letters to the Editor: Coyne, Vatter & Edsall to End Dissension

March 05, 2011

To the Editor:

Mr. Coyne was public relations director at Mount Saint Mary College for over 25 years. This is exactly the of type candidate the Village needs to heal wounds and move us forward. Mr. Coyne has selflessly volunteered his time for so many causes I really don’t need to list them all. He is even-tempered and well-liked.

We need to move forward and this will never be accomplished as long as Mayor Gross is Mayor. I hope every voter reaches out to other Village employees to understand the cause of Village strife. Leaders do not command respect, they earn it. Mayor Gross has treated our employees with disdain. Marian Anderson, the singer, said, “Leadership should be born out of the understanding of the needs of those who would be affected by it” and “You lose a lot of time, hating people.” We should heed these words.

Mr. Vatter is one of the most intelligent men I have ever met. If anyone knows business and saving a buck, it’s Doug Vatter. Mr. Vatter once said to me, “Pat, this Village is so small it should run itself.” I agree with his assessment. The current Mayor’s adversarial demeanor towards others will preclude the village ever moving forward. Mr Vatter runs a successful business with over 100 employees. He epitomizes self-sacrifice. Doug does a lot to help people but remains a humble man. Ask Mr Vatters’ employees how he is as a leader. You will find out they all respect him. Why? Because he has earned that respect. With ,that I urge all to reelect Doug Vatter.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I emphatically endorse Mark Edsall. Mark Edsall is Mr. Cornwall-on-Hudson. He is what we all stand for. He has not been elected Trustee for 12 years for no reason. Mr. Edsall is another doer who helps make our Village a special place. As successful and educated as he is, he’s willing to serve in so many voluntary capacities for the betterment of the Village. That makes him another candidate to reelect to a two-year term. Don’t be fooled by those who label Mr. Edsall with bogus and patently false allegations. Mr, Edsall has never done anything but what is best for the village. Know who throws false lies. He’s one of the best assets the Village has ever had.

Lastly, I know during the last trustee election ,200 of the voters who had two votes in a three-way race only chose to vote for one candidate. We voted for Mr Kane. Again, I know the Village will know what to do March 15th. We must elect Mr Coyne and this time we can vote for two candidates, Mr Edsall and Mr Vatter. We must make sure Mr Coyne will have the best and most experienced Trustees to help heal the Village. Once we elect Coyne, Edsall, and Vatter the Village will gets things done without obfuscation and hate.

Thank you.
