Letters to the Editor: Coyne, Edsall & Vatter Can Cooperate

February 28, 2011

To the Editor:

This election is more important than ever. The residents of Cornwall-on-Hudson need to move past the dictatorship style of governing. It has failed and failed miserably. In the not-so-distant past, we watched as the Egyptians stood up against their dictator and let their voice be heard. We are currently watching from afar the same happening in Libya, too.

The world is made up of many types of leaders. There are those that try to rule their realm with threats and bully tactics or try to place blame on others for their own short comings. And there are leaders that are in touch with their constituents. They truly serve the people for a common goal of betterment for each other. Their actions are visible in what they project or do in their professional and personal lives.

Brendan Coyne is a trained public relations expert who gave so much of himself to the community through his involvement with civic groups and serving on the Board of Education. Who better to move the Village forward away from the stymied dysfunction that had plagued the Village since the current mayor took office?

Mark Edsall is a highly respected professional engineer with many years of working with municipal boards on a personal and professional level. A dedicated member of the community as a volunteer fireman, soccer coach, and current incumbent of the Village Board.

Doug Vatter is an insurance professional with expert knowledge of financial planning and organizational skills. Also, serving the community through many volunteer ventures such as current member of Storm King Engine Company and current president of this fine organization, as well as serving on the Village Board.

Others may state that they wish to serve and can bring change, but the facts are the facts and in my opinion, the above three candidates have what it takes to get the job done. They have proven it time and time again. Brendan Coyne, Mark Edsall, and Doug Vatter are the BEST candidates to bring respect, understanding and, most importantly, cooperation back to Cornwall-on-Hudson.
