To The Editor:
I have been a resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson for 51 years. My wife is a third-generation villager. Between the two of us, we have over 130 years of life in the Village. I have known the former mayors Dr. Michael Donohue, Mr. Obremesky, and Mr. Ed Moulton, and they always ran this village respectfully. They listened to the Village residents and were respected by all of us.
Ever since Joe Gross became mayor, we have never seen this village in such a disruptive state in all of our years here. We have to get this Village back to normalcy, and I think Brendan Coyne, Mark Edsall and Doug Vatter serve the best interests for this purpose. They are intelligent men with experience who listen to their constituents, respect their interests and desire to get this Village back to the way it once was: a small, quaint family-oriented village with leaders who care about the people who live here.
We miss the association that we had with our former mayors. The current mayor seems to have only his interests at heart – and seems to act like a dictator (Webster’s definition: “an absolute ruler.”)
When he was first elected, I had great faith in him and told him I would back him 100% if he did the right things, which he hasn’t done. He has divided our Village, and divided we all fail.
