To the Editor:
Village voters need to plan ahead. Once again our polls will not open until noon on election day, March 15th. If you will not be in the Village between noon and 9:00 p.m. when our polls are open, please take the extra effort to vote by absentee ballot. You can pick up an application for an absentee ballot at Village Hall Monday-Froday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30 until March 14th. If you cannot get there during those hours, you can make arrangements to have the application mailed to you by telephoning Village Hall (534-4200 then press 1) until March 9th.
A petition bearing 100 signatures urging that our polls open in the morning for this election was delivered to Village Hall on November 16, 2010. No change was made. Years ago, when our Mayor ran unopposed, these minimal voting hours were fine. Now that our elections are contested, everyone should have easy access to the polls; even Village taxpayers who commute to work.
Sincerely,
Barbara Mannix
