To the Editor:
Having spent my entire adult life in public service, I have learned some very important facts along the way.
We need to listen more to the decisions that are made and be able to understand the reason for these actions. While it is easy to sit back and critique actions of another, we don’t always understand why these decisions were made, or if we were given non- factual information.
Proper leadership works best when you have the support of your subordinates and peers. You cannot isolate the persons that are tasked with carrying out the decisions or actions that have been instilled upon them. There needs to be a working relationship between management and support staff. It will not work with the “Do as I say” attitude. It should always be a team effort, from the top right down to the bottom.
Pettiness is best left on the playground. There is no time for playing games when you are dealing with the trust and authority to serve as the people’s representative. If you are not able to act like an adult and have a reasonable, informed, and open discussion, then you need to grab your shovel & pail and head back to the sand box.
That said, over the past year or two it has become obvious to me that Joe Gross has several unexplained agendas which have resulted in harm to the Village. This is most recently observed with his actions to shut down the cooperative effort with the Town on building inspections, causing direct financial harm to residents in the Village. He doesn’t work well with others. His failure to show the positive qualities noted above are problematic.
It is my belief that Brendan Coyne is a person with the qualities and disposition to correct this and restore normal operation to the Village. The residents of Cornwall-on-Hudson need to make sure that they are voting for the best candidate when they cast their vote. Their choice needs to be based on a reflection of the obvious problems from the past years, and a vision for a better Cornwall-on-Hudson for the future.
