►DPW Appreciates Help It Receives
Village DPW supervisor Dave Halvorsen gave a big thank you at Tuesday’s board meeting to those who have been giving the village a hand with snow removal and its own equipment shortage. Halvorsen thanked Mike Bigg of Quality Auto for the speedy repair of the four-wheel drive dump truck that was put out of work last week with an electrical fire. He also thanked Matt Brodmerkel of VanEtten Paving for loaning the village a machine to take the place of the broken Bobcat. The Bobcat, which is scheduled to be replaced, is the most used piece of equipment the village owns, Halvorsen said. He also gave thanks to the town of Cornwall highway department for loaning a machine for cleaning sidewalks, a task normally done with the Bobcat.
►DPW Not Ready to be Re-occupied
Eleven months after the DPW was evacuated from its headquarters due to building code violations, the law firm advising the village on its repair says that it is too soon for employees to work there. In a letter, the firm of Hacker Murphy recommends that an engineer and an architect first inspect the building and give their approval before re-occupying it
