Letters to the Editor: Mazzocca Not Running for Mayor

January 11, 2011

To the Editor:

I regret having to inform my numerous supporters that I am no longer in the race for mayor of Cornwall-on- Hudson.

I believe I could have unified the board so we could work together to make the important decisions instead of wasting time quibbling. For example, things that should have been on the “back burner” have become the main topic at meetings to the extent that, sometimes, normal business could not be conducted.

My reasons for withdrawing:  My wife’s blood pressure and pulse rate levels have risen to abnormal levels from the anxiety caused by my decision to run. I can’t let her get sick over this.

I would have liked to do what I could to straighten out the situation the village is in right now---but, cannot.

I love the village--but, I love my wife and family much more.

To all the many people who had faith in my ability to get the job done--THANK YOU! ---

Al Mazzocca
Cornwall-on-Hudson

Smart Move Al...Very smart move. Family means more than whatever the village is doing

Good luck to you and your wife Al. Although we have not always agreed on issues I do know you as an honorable man and a true gentleman.

Mr. Mazzocca, while we haven't agreed on the Village Attorney dispute, I want you to know that I and many others have appreciated your vigilance and courage in speaking out about the future of NYMA. That's no intramural squabble; it's about the the very character of this community as we go forward.

Thank you for recognizing that and best wishes to you and your family.
