"Cupcakes for a Cause" is a community service originated by The River Bank Restaurant, in Cornwall-on-Hudson, that donates cupcakes to a non profit organization.
Lucie Provencher, owner of The River Bank, says "the cupcake can be used to celebrate a particular event or can be be sold at a profit to raise money."
Lucie was on hand when the refurbished gymnasium at the Newburgh Armory opened for a basketball tournament during the Thanksgiving weekend celebration called "Unity for the Community." At the tournament the Newburgh Boys and Girls Club basketball players, ages 7 to 11 years, were the beneficiaries of "Cup Cake for a Cause," and they were awarded the sweet treats in a brief ceremony with Ms. Provencher, philanthropist William Kaplan, Senator Bill Larkin, Newburgh YMCA and Hoop Express.
