December 06, 2010
Student athletes at Cornwall high school proved they are good at keeping their grades up this year. Athletic director Lou Cioffi announced on Friday that all eight varsity eligible teams won recognition from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYPHSSA) for compiling a grade point average of 90 or above in the classroom.
“This is a great honor to supplement our successful teams, and is a tribute to our student-athletes, coaches, teachers, and parents. It certainly demonstrates the caliber of student-athletes within our district," Cioffi said in a written statement, which also noted the many league, section and regional titles produced this fall by the athletes.
The teams honored included: Girls Swimming (95.547), Girl's Cross Country (94.709),Boy's Cross Country(93.590),Girl's Soccer (92.777), Girl's Volleyball (92.65), Girl's Tennis (92.629), Football (91.68), and Boys Soccer (90.319).
