General News: SKFE Wins 1st Place at OCVFA Parade
September 26, 2010
The Storm King Fire Engine Co. #2 in Cornwall-on-Hudson won first place in Class A at the annual Orange County Volunteer Firemen’s Association parade that took place on Saturday in the town of Newburgh. The company’s ladder truck, which dates back to 1973, won third place.
SKFE member Bruce Bryan said that the company is always in a close competition with the New Windsor Fire Department. He said on Sunday that it may have gotten the edge this year in the eyes of the judges because of the large turnout by members of SKFE.
The parade this year was hosted by the Dan Leghorn Fire Company in the Orange Lake fire district. In 2012, the Storm King Fire Engine Company will host the annual event and fundraising efforts have been underway for a couple of years to underwrite a week of activities.
