General News: Sewer Bond Approved; Firthcliffe Water Rates
September 08, 2010
Residents of the Beaver Dam Lake sewer district will see their property taxes go up to pay for a new generator that was approved by the Cornwall town council on Tuesday evening.
Deputy supervisor Mary Beth Greene Krafft says that the council approved a bond for the 15-year, $122,500 bond to cover the cost of the new generator and the rental of an interim one. She notes that the change was required by the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The council voted following a public hearing on the matter in which one member of the public spoke in favor of the bond. There are 164 units in the Beave Dam Lake district that will be affected by the change.

A New Windsor official notified the town council in a letter that states the rates will rise from the current rate of $6.84 per thousand gallons to $8.93 per thousand gallons, a 30 percent increase.
Cornwall residents who are supplied by the Cornwall-on-Hudson water department pay $14.56 per thousand gallons.
