Members of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Newburgh recently donated $500 to the the Hudson Valley Food Bank, one of several projects the church supports as part of its effort to give back to the community.
Church member John Panos says that the money was raised at the semi-annual Greek Fest held at the church on Fullerton Avenue. “People support our festival and we give back to the community,” he said.
Panos noted that the festival used to be held at the Armory in Newburgh but that after 9-11, the group lost access to the facility. Members revived the festival recently.
St. Nicholas will once again host a Greek-Fest on September 24-26 as well as a Penny Social on October 23.
