To the Editor:
The Cornwall Independence Day Committee would like to thank everyone who supported this year’s celebration. We had lots of fun as we celebrated our nation’s 234th birthday. While the heat slowed activities down in the mid-afternoon, the town hall grounds and Main and Hudson streets began to fill up in the late afternoon. If you have photos of this year’s festivities, we’ll try to post them on our website: www.cornwall4th.org.
Thanks to the many individuals and businesses whose generosity made the celebration possible. At the moment, expenses are running ahead of income so if you would like to make a donation, please mail it to: CIDC, P.O. Box 542, Cornwall, NY 12518.
We are grateful to the town and village for their support. Thanks to the many individuals who volunteered on the Fourth to help the committee gather funds from sales of water, soda, T-shirts (a few T-shirts with Main Street Mile sponsors on the back are still available) and loop-a-lites, and from the coin drop.
Here’s to the committee members who made the day happen: Diane Berkery, Dave Carnright, Sally Faith Dorfman, Peter Erwin, Dave Feuer, Sue and Gerry Fink, Karen Ganz, Harry Houlis, Karen Kaiser-Sharp, Anne Keegan, Paul Korykora, John Luhan, Pat and Patrick McGuinness, Walter Moran, Jim and Donna Niblo, Felix and Kedeem Octave, Marty Purdy, Bill and Scott Rolon, Kathy and EJ Sacer, Angelo Schembari, Wendy Viera-Pitt, Bill Webber, Doris Wickiser, Don Wright, Sid Youngs and Amos and Lori Ziegler.
The Cornwall Independence Day Celebration is a huge undertaking. While we add a member or two each year, we certainly could use more help. Next spring we’ll be actively recruiting new members; if you’ve been considering joining us, please contact me (534-4780).
Thanks.
Brendan G. Coyne
CIDC Chair
