Arrests
Tuesday, June 1
Police charge 59-year-old Julio Sanchez, of Newburgh, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
Wednesday, June 2
Police charge 32-year-old Jeffrey Lowe, of Cornwall, with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Thursday, June 3
Police charge 44-year-old Maria Nevarez, a home health aid from Newburgh, with petty larceny and forgery in the third degree, both misdemeanors, for allegedly altering checks from her employer.
Friday, June 4
Police charge 52-year-old Ann Kurz with driving while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, possession of a controlled substance outside the original container, driving a vehicle with an expired inspection and with not wearing a seatbelt.
Police charge 21-year-old Ranshawn Corbett with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and driving a vehicle with a faulty exhaust system.

Monday, May 31
11:25 am Police respond to a husband-wife domestic dispute.
12:14 pm Police investigate a report of a rowboat stolen, sunk and then recovered by the owner in Beaver Dam over the weekend and the theft of three oars, a motor and batteries that were not recovered. One oar was later found.
4:39 pm Police respond to a request from a homeowner to help get rid of a large rattlesnake that was in the proximity of children and a dog. Police attempt to scare off the snake, then use the car-mounted shotgun to kill it.
6:54 pm Police confiscate ten to twelve small firecrackers from two subjects who admit to setting them off on Route 218.
Tuesday, June 1
5:15 am Police dispatch an injured deer on Quaker Avenue.
6:33 am Police investigate a report of flags taken off the greens of Storm King Golf Course and jammed into the grounds overnight.
10:16 am Police issue a traffic ticket for an expired inspection.
10:52 am Police issue a ticket for an unlicensed dog.
11:04 am Police take a report of a larceny from an unlocked vehicle on Highland Avenue.
11:38 am Police respond to a 3-car motor vehicle accident with property damage on Quaker Avenue.
2:06 pm Police take a report of a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Quaker Avenue.
Wednesday, June 2
12:07 am Police take a report of a motor vehicle accident on Orrs Mills Road.
6:42 am Police respond to a motor vehicle accident at Route 9W and Willow Avenue.
9:19 am Police issue a ticket to a driver for not wearing seat belt.
10:10 am Police issue a ticket for traffic violation to a driver on Route 9W.
5:53 pm Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Willow Avenue.
6:01 pm Police take a report of graffiti on a building on Manor Drive.
7:47 pm Police investigate a report of a cell phone taken from a book bag of a middle school student that was left unattended during gym. Phone is returned to owner.
9:44 pm Police respond to a deer vs motor vehicle accident on Route 32.
Thursday, June 3
8:30 am Police issue a ticket for an expired inspection.
8:20 am Police issue two traffic tickets on Route 9W, one for failure to wear a seat belt.
9:46 am Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 32.
10:52 am Police issue a speeding ticket to a driver on Route 94.
1:56 pm Police investigate a reported telephone scam.
5:55 pm Police assist village police with a road rage incident on Shore Road.
6:51 pm Police respond to a report of three males on 4-wheelers that were threatening a resident on Mill Street.
9:31 pm Police assist a driver of a car that had gone off the roadway o Riley Road.
10:36 pm Police respond to a report of wires down and burning near a wooded area on Quaker Avenue.
Friday, June 4
2:29 am Police take a report of a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Pleasant Hill Road.
7:36 am Police investigate an attempted burglary at a residence during the night in which no items were taken.
2:11 pm Police issue a speeding ticket to a driver on Route 94.
4:50 pm Police take a report of a break in at a house on Route 32 in which a beagle and a yellow lab were taken.
Saturday, June 5
7:43 am Police investigate a report of the rear window of a vehicle that appeared to have been shot out with a BB gun while parked on Willow Avenue overnight.
9:27 am Police investigate a report of heavy graffiti sprayed on stop signs at Harold Avenue and Beach Street and at Harold Avenue and Shelly.
11:12 am Police investigate a report of the rear window of a vehicle that appeared to have been shot out with a BB gun while parked on Amy Lane overnight.
Sunday, June 6
2:45 am Police respond to a motor vehicle accident at Route 32 and Orrs Mills Road in which a vehicle hit a wall.
4:02 pm Police respond to a motor vehicle accident with property damage on Hudson Street.
5:15 pm Police issue a ticket to a driver who drove around a police cruiser that was stopping traffic to prohibit travel on Angola Road due to an electrical fire in the roadway

may 31 - aren't rattlesnakes protected?! why didn't they call a herpetologist or the DEC? not one of the animal shelters around had a loop or snake hook to use? If they can shoot rattlesnakes does this mean that we can now start shooting (and cooking!) the pesty geese?
